The eCert platform, delivered through the Certificate Generation and Distribution System (CGDS), is Jamaica’s official government service for the secure, digital issuance and verification of certificates. The platform is designed, developed, and maintained by the ICT Authority, providing ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) with a modern, centralized system to publish, verify, and distribute official certificates online.
Through CGDS, participating MDAs such as the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) and the Island Traffic Authority (ITA) can generate tamper-resistant digital certificates that citizens can easily validate or retrieve via the CGDS Portal.
The system ensures that all certificate records are stored in a secure national repository, enabling real-time validation, fraud prevention, and seamless access to official documents in PDF format.
How CGDS Works
Centralized Certificate Publishing
The ICT Authority provides a secure pipeline that allows MDAs to publish certificate records directly to a national database, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and long-term preservation.
Digital Certificate Retrieval
Citizens can access digital versions of their certificates anytime through the CGDS portal, eliminating delays, manual handling, and the need for in-person collection.
Real-Time Certificate Validation
Employers, agencies, law enforcement, and other authorized users can quickly verify the authenticity of documents through the CGDS validation engine—powered by ICTA’s cybersecurity and identity management frameworks.
Secure, High-Availability Platform
Built and hosted by the ICT Authority, CGDS guarantees high uptime, strong encryption, and robust protection against tampering or fraud.
Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate
Available Through the eCert Platform
