The app was designed, developed and continues to be enhanced by the ICT Authority. Through this collaboration, the ICT Authority provides the technical leadership, infrastructure support and ongoing innovation that power the nation’s most widely used government payment app.

History of the TAJ Mobile App
The TAJ Mobile App originated from the need to modernize government service delivery, reduce long lines at tax offices, and expand digital access for citizens.
To bring this vision to life, TAJ partnered with the ICT Authority, the Government of Jamaica’s central agency for digital governance. The ICT Authority led the end-to-end development (system architecture, application design, deployment, cybersecurity integration and maintenance), ensuring that the mobile app met national standards for reliability and security.
Development Milestones
- 2020: App launched on Google Play Store following joint development between TAJ and the ICT Authority.
- Initial features included payments for property taxes, motor vehicle fitness fees, traffic tickets and police record fees.
- Over time, ICT Authority engineers expanded the app to include office locator services, TRN lookup, payment history and real-time TAJ news.
The app continues to evolve under the ICT Authority’s technical stewardship, supporting Jamaica’s digital government agenda with ongoing upgrades that enhance security, improve performance, and expand online services.
