Conrad Harris
Conrad Harris serves as the Executive Director of the Jamaica Society for the Blind (JSB), bringing decades of advocacy and leadership to the organization. Born blind due to genetically inherited glaucoma, Harris has dedicated his life to empowering the visually impaired community in Jamaica. He joined JSB in 1993 and has since been instrumental in developing programs that support blind individuals in achieving independence and social inclusion. Notably, he has overseen initiatives like the Adjustment to Blindness project, which provides training and resources to help newly blind individuals adapt to their condition. Under his leadership, JSB has also collaborated with government agencies to introduce innovations such as Braille birth certificates, enhancing accessibility for the visually impaired. Harris’s commitment extends beyond national borders, as he actively participates in regional and international forums advocating for the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
